Alexa, The Smart Personal Assistant
Many people have become dependent on the intelligent personal assistant, “Alexa” from the Amazon company, to find out the weather conditions, get maps and also have answers to questions they ask the smart assistant. “Alexa” also performs other functions as it is also adopted in many home appliances for remote control. For example, you can turn off the lights or turn them on or control the intensity of the light in the rooms of the house only by a voice command directed to the smart personal assistant “Alexa”.
However, this smart assistant can sometimes turn into a curse as a study found that virtual assistants, such as Alexa and Google Home, have the ability to analyze how happy a couple is, and determine if their relationship is healthy or not as mentioned in an article on the official Independent Arabia website “Alexa and Google Home can predict a fight and interfere in a discussion between any couple”. Home listening devices will soon be able to judge the effectiveness of relationships, as well as intervene and suggest ideas for solving the problem, the study says. Moreover, the study, conducted by Imperial College Business School, indicated that over the next two or three years, virtual assistants will be able to predict with more than 75 % accuracy about the likelihood of a successful relationship or marriage.
Technology will be able to come to an assessment through phonological analysis of the communication between people, by examining everything that happens between the two parties, from daily meetings or calls.
These new products/ services have a positive impact on our life in which they can make it even easier for us, like while we are overwhelmed with many business meetings or studies, but people have to use such technologies wisely in order not to harm themselves nor their families.
