In a world where the stages of development are accelerating every day, it is difficult to distinguish between fake news and real news due to the huge number of options we have of social media applications that have become an integral part of our day, regardless of our cultures and ages. One of the most popular and important sites is Facebook, which has acquired many other sites such as WhatsApp and Instagram, on every important occasion concerning the political part of any country we see a huge number of accounts that begin to mislead the election results, for example, as we witnessed recently in the US presidential elections; new groups and accounts start appearing and fake videos, photos, and news are published for a purpose. This matter greatly affects the recipient, as it is the public, and unfortunately, a large segment of them do not differentiate between the correct news, which comes from a real and reliable source, and the fabricated news from people active on social media, especially that we witness the emergence of a new application almost daily which also makes it difficult for the public to keep up with all latest updates.

Some websites contribute to limiting the spread of this news, For example, recently Twitter began deleting many accounts that were fake and aimed to mislead the results of the US presidential elections, and Twitter started to add a notice note under any tweets that may contain inaccurate information, just as what happened with Donald Trump the former president of the United States of America when he claimed that he won the elections right after the results were out. According to an article on BBC news official website named “Facebook targets false news amid growing pressure from advertisers” all active users will be “reprimanded” once they share or post any content that may cause harm to anyone anywhere in the “real-world” which can be counted as a plus point to the platform since they are working on limiting the number of fake news as much as they can. Lastly, Facebook actually removed a number of accounts that were promoting violence and harmful posts for children including some accounts that were supporting illegal behaviors.
